In this body of work my intention has been to create spaces saturated with color that draw inspiration from the natural world around us.  

 

In these highly gestural floral abstractions I use bold and expressive stroke, rich in colour and free spirit.  I apply bright, lively palette to underline the cheerfulness of the subject matter.    

 

When working with monotypes such as these a total serenity and concentration is foremost. The process begins with a certain feeling or a notion that can only be realized when the first mark is put down.  Both very simple and immensely complicated, one mark calls for another which in turn demands that another one be removed.  The communication is total. It is clear, fast and spontaneous. 

 

The image becomes alive when it resonates with an open mind, a truly transcendental experience.
